While the lens width is the most common metric used to determine fit, a precise calculation requires reviewing three distinct dimensions:

Identifying Fit Discrepancies vs. Optical Adjustments

If the frame slides down the nasal bridge or shifts out of place when the head moves vertically or laterally, the frame lacks adequate securement.

Conversely, if the temple arms press heavily into the sides of the head or require physical force to slide on, the clearance is insufficient.

The Solution: Professional Alignment

In both scenarios, structural flaws are rarely the cause if the eyes remain properly centered within the lenses. Standard acetate and metal frames are designed to be malleable. A licensed optician can alter the temple curvature, bridge angle, or mastoid bend to customize the frame to the specific contours of the face.
